Syntax Group Show - Closing Day July 29, 5 p.m.

Syntax mixed media artists was established from bonds created between nine women who met in a variety of art workshops and retreats. Although each Syntax member is on their own artistic journey, they soon recognized they shared common goals for their art as members exchanged experiences and ideas in a regularly scheduled independent study and critique group. Syntax was formed in 2009 to support the artists in pursuing their goals as a group, as well as individually. The diversity of artwork created by Syntax artists demonstrates that mixed media, painting and collage know no bounds. The artists combine an expansive variety of traditional and non-traditional art media, often in unexpected ways. It is each members hope that by exhibiting their artwork together in a wide range of public settings, they will educate the public about the extraordinary possibilities offered through mixed media art. Syntax has exhibited throughout Connecticut since 2009. Their venues have included Noah Webster Library in West Hartford; Ellen Hyde Phillips Gallery in Fairfield; River Street Gallery in New Haven; The Funky Monkey Café and Gallery in Cheshire; Center Stage of Shelton; University of Connecticut at Stamford Art Gallery, as well as the Homer Babbidge Library and Stevens Gallery on the UConn campus in Storrs.
