Blow Up: Inflatable Contemporary Art

Thursday, June 9, 2016
10:00am – 4:30pm

Repeats weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday until 07/29/2016.

Storrs Campus
WIlliam Benton Museum of Art

This playful, family-friendly exhibition presents 21 inflatable works, among them a 10-foot tall White Elephant, two giant, smiling red bunnies, towering superheroes, and a 17-foot long Trans Am replica of the 1977 Smokey and the Bandit car. The structures connote fun and whimsy, and challenge our everyday, feet-on-the-ground perspective.

The exhibition was organized by Carrie Lederer, Curator of Exhibitions, Bedford Gallery, Lesher Center for the Arts, Walnut Creek, CA, and was made possible by a grant from The National Endowment for the Arts.
