Growing into (or out of) peace and tolerance: the need for a developmental understanding of intergroup relations and victimization

Today’s youth are growing up in increasingly diverse societies. At the same time, prejudice and intergroup conflict are widespread social phenomena associated with profound negative outcomes for both individual wellbeing and societal cohesion. Dr. Brenick will discuss the ways in which youth typically and developmentally make sense of their own social identities as well as relations between diverse groups, how and why prejudice and discrimination develops, and the ways we can combat intergroup conflict and promote intergroup tolerance.

Attending this event will count toward Sophomore Honors.
