Exploring Women and Leadership in Iceland

Maymester 2019

May 16-23, 2019

Led by faculty in the Neag School of Education (Drs. Grenier & Weiner) and using Iceland as a backdrop, Exploring Women and Leadership will engage learners in small class meetings, day trips in Reykjavik and outside the city, and talks from prominent women in Iceland to explore themes such as gender and sexuality, economics and the workforce, politics and government, family and motherhood, and education.

Designed for graduate students and upper level undergraduates (with permission) with an interest in leadership, education, sociology, critical theory, or gender studies, the 3 credit course is an opportunity to expand learners’ thinking about what is possible regarding gender equity in leadership and what potential levers to pull to enhance it in other contexts.
