One classy number – linking morphemes in Dutch and German This is a practice talk for NELS together with Gìsli Hardharson. We look at elements that look like plural/case markers inside Germanic compounds. However, their distribution and meaning seems to be different from their inflectional counterpart. We show that these elements, called linkers, can to disambiguate three part compounds. Moreover we also provide an analysis for why they look like plural/case markers but are still different.
