Victory is a Question of Stamina: Posters from the First World War marks the centennial of the start of WWI with an exhibition of posters from the permanent collection contextualized with photographs and artifacts. Bold and vibrant with compelling imagery and straightforward text, posters encouraged people to participate in all aspects of the war effort from contributing money to joining the armed forces. This exhibition, which takes its title from a poster slogan used by the U.S. Food Administration in support of voluntary food conservation, focuses on the role women played both on the home front and the fighting front in achieving Allied victory.

This exhibition is curated in collaboration with UConn’s Department of History, the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center, and the School of Nursing.
