UConn Speech and Hearing Clinic Transgender Voice and Communication Group
*For individuals pursuing vocal and communication changes related to gender identity*
• A discussion and practice group • Facilitated by a speech-language pathologist and speech-language pathology graduate students • An opportunity to use new vocal and communication qualities in a safe and confidential environment • Feedback from peers and facilitators • Share experiences regarding communication challenges • Different themes selected every semester to meet the needs of group members • Individual sessions work best to support focused work on pitch changes and are available as well, inquire at the front desk or the number below, sessions are $10 per treatment • Individuals at any point in their gender transition are welcome
Fall Theme: Delve into non-verbal communication and how it impacts our daily interactions with communication partners. Discussions will focus on non-verbal communication including hand gestures, facial expressions, eye contact patterns, and body language. Sentence structure and communication style will also be discussed.
