Dr. Katie Lansdale Violin Master Class

A highly accomplished soloist, chamber musician, and teacher, Katie Lansdale performs actively both in America and Europe. As concerto soloist, she has performed a wide range of repertoire with diverse orchestras: the National Symphony, NYC Spectrum and Repertoire Orchestras, the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the Austin Mozart Orchestra, and the New York Repertory Orchestra. Recitals and guest artist venues have included the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Phillips Collection (DC), the Palais de l’Europe (Paris), Merkin Hall, and Jordan Hall in Boston. She was a founding member of New York's Locrian New Music Ensemble and performed with them for eight years. Lauded for her Bach performances, she was awarded the prestigious Schlosspreis for Performance at the Salzburg Mozaarteum. Lansdale has performed the complete cycle over a dozen times in North and South America; she was invited to present this music at the Juilliard Delay Symposium in 2013. “This is one of the best recordings there are of this music” wrote the American Record Guide of her solo Bach CD. Grand prizewinner at both the Yellow Spring and Fischoff National Chamber Competitions, Ms. Lansdale is a frequent guest on chamber series, collaborating with Yo Yo Ma, Felix Galimir and Donald Weilerstein. She performs in Carnegie Hall twice a year with the Festival Chamber Society. As a member of the Lions Gate Trio, she has toured America and Europe regularly for over twenty years. Now in residence at Hartt, the Trio is releasing their fourth CD (trios by Ravel, Ives and R. Clarke) with Centaur Records this summer. She earned her BA cum laude from Yale University, where she received prizes for work in humanities and in the arts, and graduate music degrees from Cleveland Institute and Manhattan School of Music, studying with Donald Weilerstain, Mitchell Stern, Felix Galimir, and Josef Gingold.Having taught at SUNY-Stony Brook, University of North Carolina-Greensboro and Boston University, Lansdale is currently on the faculty at the Hartt School in Hartford, Connecticut.
