Shameless Woman is a long-awaited collection of the work of legendary poet, Magdalena Gómez. As an early and influential member of the Nuyorican Literary Movement, she is cited in the recent book by poet and scholar, Urayoán Noel, In Visible Movement: Nuyorican Poetry from the Sixties to Slam. “Magdalena Gómez, a poet, performer and playwright whose work has served as a bridge between the founding Nuyorican poets and a new generation informed by slam and def poetry.”

From the back cover of Shameless Woman: “A provocative, challenging and ultimately uplifing memoir in poems to be read aloud or in silence, performed on stage or naked in a supermarket. Rage and Love have found a safe meeting place at last.” Seven of the ten pieces of her off-Broadway audience acclaimed hit, Dancing in My Cockroach Killers, are included in the book.

Ms. Gómez will be doing a performative reading followed by a Q & A. Reception and book signing will also be available afterwards.
