Teaching Roundtable: Non-alphabetic Texts & Literacies

Thursday, October 23, 2014
3:30pm – 5:00pm

Storrs Campus
Austin 217 (Stern Lounge)

A round table conversation about using non-print texts in the classroom to help our students engage with the world of 2014, and to present the work of the writing classroom in new and interesting ways. How do we teach our students to "read" images, landscapes, buildings, marketing, movies, and social media platforms? How do we engage with these texts as texts? What is the place of creativity, collaboration, the digital in our writing instruction? Come to discuss these topics, hear from a couple of your fellow instructors about some fun and exciting things they're doing in their courses, and eat mini cupcakes, brownies, and cookies. Put this on your calendar now, and RSVP by Monday, October 20th if you expect to attend.
