Salaam is an Arabic salutation meaning “peace.” It is a fitting title for a program series within the Asian American Cultural Center, whose vision is to raise awareness of Islamophobia and the injustices taking place on campus and around the world. It provides a forum for presentations and discussions of political and racial issues and concerns for, about and with the Muslim community.

On Monday, November 30th, 2015, Salaam will host writer/director Qasim Basir and screen his award-nominated film, “Mooz-Lum” in the Student Union Theatre at 7 pm. This film depicts life on college campuses for Muslim students before and after 9/11. Coming from a Muslim student’s perspective, it hopes to help others have a better understanding of their experiences.
