Professor Peter Greenberg is a pioneer in quorum sensing field and coined the term “quorum sensing”. He co-authored many seminal papers in this important area of research that changed our perception of the capabilities of microorganisms and identified important regulators of virulence genes. One example is the paper entitled “Bacterial quorum sensing and metabolic incentives to cooperate” that was published in Science in 2012. He was elected into the National Academy of Sciences in 2004.
