Registration/Breakfast 7:30-8am, Conference 8am-4pm Registration: UConn Link 1-800-535-6232 or 860-679-7692 The Emergency Stroke Care Conference is intended for any health care professional (i.e. Physicians, Neurologists, Emergency Department, Hospitalists, Residents/Intern’s, RN’s, MA’s, CNA’s, EMT’s, Paramedics, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, PA’s, Administration, Stroke Team Members, & Ancillary Staff, Social Workers, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Case Managers, etc.).

This year the focus is on the complex medical treatment, management, and care throughout the care continuum. We will offer a comprehensive overview of stroke from the pre-hospital setting, emergency department, acute care, post-acute hospital stay through discharge. The curriculum includes presenters that will address treatment plans of patients that suffer from Acute Ischemic Stroke, Hemorrhagic Strokes, Cerebral Edema, and includes both medical and surgical management of this population.

We have the pleasure of welcoming two invited Keynote Speakers. Dr. Charles Matouk from Yale New Haven Hospital will provide us with a lecture on the latest research regarding Endovascular Therapy in patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke. Dr. Christopher Anderson from Mass General Hospital will be giving a lecture on Neurocritical Care Treatment and Management in stroke patients with Acute Cerebral Edema. This conference will also provide insight into social issues for stroke survivors, including a survivor’s personal perspective.

Objectives: Identify signs and symptoms of Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Demonstrate understanding of Emergency Stroke Care Strategies Learn current research and recommendations regarding management of strokes Develop competence in identifying and decision making in use of early intervention in acute stroke

This program offers 7.3 Nursing Contact Hours for attendance at the entire program & completion of an evaluation. This program offers 7.75 CME for health care providers. Emergency Medical Services 7.75 CME’s are offered for our EMS attendees.
