CCAM Seminar Series

Location: CGSB, CCAM Confeence Room, R1673, 400 Farmington Ave. Time: 4:00 pm Speaker: Dr. Feliks Trakhtenberg Title: "Axonal transport in CNS axon regeneration".

Abstract: Axonal transport is necessary for the growth of axonal projections during neurodevelopment, as well as for normal function of mature neurons. Axonal transport is dysregulated in axonal neuropathies, and experimental approaches for enhancing axonal transport promote regeneration of the CNS axonal projections after injury. However, how motor proteins cooperate in this process is poorly understood. We use prototypical mammalian CNS projection neuron, retinal ganglion cell (RGC), as a model system for investigating motor protein dynamics in anterograde slow and fast axon transport during axon growth and regeneration.
