Storrs Campus
Wilbur Cross Building, Lobby Rotunda
Please join us at a reception to celebrate our latest AntU campus addition! This fun and unique exhibit showcases Creative Writing student works inspired by army ants and their guests, and features a 50-foot magnetic poetry board in the Rotunda of Wilbur Cross!
Accompanied by a group of giant ants, the new AntU installation displays work by students in Bruce Cohen’s creative writing classes (ENGL 3003W, ENGL 3701) and from the Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven, as well as in Darcie Dennigan’s Nature Writing Workshop (ENGL 3715).
The informal reception begins at 4:30pm on Tuesday December 5th. Faculty members and participating students will offer opening remarks and readings of their work.
AntU is a multi-year initiative involving diverse academic disciplines to engage broad audiences in the wonders of the complex biological systems of army ants and their hundreds of associated species ('guests'), and was borne out of an award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Collections in Support of Biological Research program to UConn's Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology (EEB), in partnership with the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History (CSMNH).
