Representation in Media: A Discussion on Empowerment

Wednesday, April 18, 2018
8:00pm – 9:00pm

Storrs Campus
Laurel Hall 102

For this event we, the siblings of Theta Delta Sigma Society, Inc., are planning on discussing recent films such as Black Panther, A Wrinkle in Time, and Love, Simon, as well as past films and television programs, and why having media representation for people of all races, sexualities, and gender identities is important. In order to drive this point home, we intend on gathering a small panel of graduate students as well as undergraduates to answer some provided questions on what representation means to them. The event is part of our Theta Week, which is a celebration of our founding (which took place on April 15, 2001) and the theme of which will be empowerment.
