CLIR - What are Rituals For?

Tuesday, June 12, 2018
1:15pm – 2:45pm

UConn Depot Campus

What are Rituals For? New Perspectives on an Age-Old Puzzle. Ritual, a human universal, by definition seems to lack utility. Hypotheses about its functions have only recently been subjected to scientific scrutiny through an interdisciplinary approach, combining ethnographic and experimental evidence to understand why seemingly quirky behaviors are actually a fundamental part of the human experience. Class will be held at Vernon Cottage.
