Sweeney Todd: A Musical Thriller in Concert

Wednesday, June 27, 2018
7:30pm – 10:30pm

Storrs Campus
Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre

Three-time Tony Award-nominee and Artistic Director Terrence Mann returns to the CRT stage in the Tony-Award-winning tale of love, murder and revenge set against the backdrop of 19th century London. Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to London seeking vengeance against the lecherous Judge Turpin who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, the resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd’s third for blood inspires a new ingredient for her meat pies that has the people of London lining up…and the carnage has only just begun! This chilling masterpiece is sure to thrill and delight audiences in a concert staging following the style of CRT’s successful presentation of “Les Misérables: A Musical Celebration”.
