UConn Chamber Singers: Considering Matthew Shepard- Hartford

Sunday, November 4, 2018
4:00pm – 5:30pm

Hartford Campus
Asylum Hill Congregational Church, Hartford

This is the first Music for Humanity concert of the 2018-2019 season. Written in 2016 by Craig Hella Johnson, this new oratorio recounts the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay college student in Laramie, Wyoming. Johnson weaves together a vast range of musical styles to reflect the universality of this story.

The UCONN Chamber Singers will join CONCORA to mark the twentieth anniversary of Matthew Shepard’s death. Jamie Spillane will conduct, with Chris Shepard at the piano.

As a Music for Humanity concert, all ticket proceeds will go to benefit the following local agency: True colors, Inc.

Choral music has the power to cross cultural boundaries and to move hearts. CONCORA’s mission to reach a broad and diverse audience extends not only to the choral aficionado, but also to those who may be touched by the beauty of the choral art for the first time.

Ticket Info: 1. Tickets are $20 general admission, and are on sale now through the ticket link below. 2. The day of the concert, tickets will also be available at the door (cash or check only).

3. Additionally, student tickets at the door are only $10 (with valid student ID), and anyone age 18 or under gets in free!
