Poverty Simulation

Tuesday, November 13, 2018
5:30pm – 9:00pm

Storrs Campus
Homer Babbidge Library Video Theater 2

WHAT: UConn PIRG's Hunger and Homelessness Campaign is running an interactive poverty simulation focused on providing students with a more nuanced and reflective understanding of local poverty. WHERE: Homer Babbidge Library Video Theater Room 2 on the North side of the 2nd floor. WHEN: Sign up for ONE 1 hour time slot between 5:30-9:00 on November 13th. WHY: According to the 2010 census, Willimantic has a poverty rate of 24%. Yet, most UConn students don't have the opportunity to interact with this diverse population. We hope that this poverty simulation, paired with reflection, will introduce topics regarding local poverty that will engage students and help them to become better advocates. THERE ARE A LIMITED NUMBER OF SPOTS SO IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT PLEASE INFORM HANAKO AGRESTA AT HANAKO.AGRESTA@UCONN.EDU.
