Who's Crossing the Line?

Wednesday, December 5, 2018
7:00pm – 9:00pm

Storrs Campus
Castleman 212

UConn Indian Students Association (ISA) is proud to present: "Who's crossing the line?" (Please find hyperlinked the Facebook event above)

Reservations in India are equivalent to Affirmative Action in America. It is the allocation of a certain number of seats in educational institutions and work places based on a person's caste. Initially created to enforce equality, it is now being seen as jumpstarting corruption.

According to AAPI Data, Asians are the nation's fastest growing group of undocumented immigrants, yet little is known of their struggle. The number of undocumented Asians has more than tripled since 2000 and estimates show Indian and Chinese immigrants to be the largest undocumented groups.

Join us on December 5th at 7:00PM in Castleman 212 for a conversation about the history and current state of immigration in the United States and its impact on the South Asian Community. Event will feature guest speakers Samir Mahmud, spokespeople from Unidad Latina en Accion, and spokesperson from Connecticut Immigrant Right Alliance.

There will be interactive activities and snacks!

We are looking to host a diverse group for the discussion portion and offering attendance at this event for extra credit, as support from the faculty, would be greatly appreciated! The event counts as an ***HONORS EVENT***
