In 1838, 272 slaves were sold from Maryland to Louisiana to save Georgetown University from financial ruin. In 2017 the university announced that reparations to the descendants of these slaves would be paid. To date this has not happened. Please join us on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm in HTB 227 to learn more about the reparation efforts from Georgia Goslee, Esq., who with her team, is representing the descendants of Isaac Hawkins, the first slave named on the bill of sale. We will also hear from Professor Thomas Craemer who worked with Atty. Goslee on this effort. RSVP at by April 9, 2019 by 12:00 pm.
