Pet Therapy Event at Rowe Center GTDI Office

Stressed out about finals? Studying for long hours at the library? Miss your pets at home? This Sunday, December 8th, come to a therapy dog event the Rowe Center, Room 301, drop in anytime between 3:00-4:00pm. Pat a therapy dog and feel your stress melt away! Refreshments will be provided. Recent studies by researchers from British Columbia have shown that that even a single brief session with a therapy dog can considerably reduce stress and improve well‐being.

This event is hosted by UConn's Global Training and Development Institute (GTDI) in honor of the YSEALI Program's 6th Anniversary and its annual community service campaign known as YOUnified. YSEALI (Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative) is a grant program funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Cultural Affairs. This fall, 42 participants from 11 countries in Southeast Asia came to UConn and Brown University to learn about social entrepreneurship and prepare to apply for a mini-grant to start their own social change projects in their home communities to address a local need. The next cohort of participants from Southeast Asia will arrive on campus after spring break 2020.

GTDI is partnering with Healers with Halos, a local pet therapy organization, to offer this program to the UConn Community. Staff from UConn's GTDI office will be present at the therapy dog event to answer any questions and provide information about the YSEALI program's goals and the related YOUnited Initiative. Posters of recent YSEALI alumni mini-projects in Southeast Asia, which have been funded through the YSEALI grant, will be displayed in the hallway for viewing.
