Evaluating and Managing Infectious Diseases Exposures in Healthcare Settings

Target Audience: occupational health professionals, primary care physicians and practitioners, health promotion professionals, health policy specialists.

Learning Objectives: Participants will (be able to): 1. Describe the overall approach to evaluating a potential infectious disease exposure in patients and healthcare personnel 2. Identify diseases/microbes for which post-exposure prophylaxis is available 3. Describe specific diseases which may result in transmission to healthcare personnel, including measles, varicella, pertussis and meningococcal infection

Accreditation: The University of Connecticut School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
